The Starre Team Breaks All MonaVie Pre-Launch Records!

(PRWEB) January 13, 2005 -- Calvenn and Raven Starre know that MLM magic is here once again. In 8 short weeks, The Starre Team have become MonaVie's top enrolling couple, having personally enrolled over 400.

Why has this team shot to super "starre-dom" so quickly?
"The key to success", says Raven, "is to arm your distributors with all the tools needed to go in and play full out. Having the classiest web presentation, and then knowing how to drive internet traffic to it is an absolute must. Helping our team win is what success is all about for us!"

The Starre Team arms their distributors with over $8,000 worth of tools. Thus far, their distributors are shocked at how fast their MLM binary Power Leg is growing. In a binary, it is crucial to have a strong upline that knows how to recruit and duplicate. Most MLM distributors choose an upline that is a single individual, rather than a team of two. The Starre Team distributors have a massive advantage, they get two for the price of one.

Chris Neville, a distributor from Australia that the Starre's met through their website says, "The Starre Team promised me a power leg, and I never expected to have over 400 people within a few weeks. Over the years, I have been promised many things in the MLM industry, but The Starre Team actually delivered on the biggest promise of all...true MLM team work. Now I have business partners I call lifelong friends!"

The Starre Team invites distributors from all backgrounds and companies to take a position and build an international power leg today.

Treadmills - A Way To Achieve Better Health

by Catherine Olivia

So, you've finally decided you have to do "something" to get yourself in better shape. It's a fact that in the United States obesity and overweight have reached epidemic proportions. Overweight also plays a major role in numerous preventable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease. It is also a fact that diet alone will not give you sustained weight loss and better health. To sustain a healthy weight, and to achieve better health you also need aerobic exercise.

For many of us with hectic lifestyles, going to work, taking care of the kids, and running errands each day, a gym membership may not be the way to go. However, without any excuse, each and every one of us can find at least 20 extra minutes in our day to exercise at home. Do it in the morning while watching the news, after dinner while watching your favorite reality show. Do it in the afternoon while the baby naps.

Treadmill work-outs in the home are fast becoming a favorite aerobic work out for busy professionals. Treadmill popularity is also on the rise for senior citizens. Generally older people benefit from low impact exercise, and treadmills let you walk, and run, at a pace comfortable for you. You can walk and run in the comfort of your own home in any kind of weather.

As with buying any merchandise, you get what you pay for. Treadmills range from $500 to $3000 and up. They can be bought new, or at any used equipment store. As with any exercise program, your success is based on finding something that keeps your interest and something you will stick with. The prevalence of used treadmills for sale means that someone else decided it wasn't for them. Some buyers opt to spend less on a machine at first. Then, if they decide that the treadmill is an exercise they will stick with, they spend more money for an upgraded treadmill.

Treadmills are generally classified as basic, advanced, and commercial. A basic treadmill would be one that is manual, meaning without a motor. On a basic treadmill your feet actually get, and keep the belt moving. A commercial treadmill would be like something you would use in your neighborhood gym. A commercial grade treadmill will have a high quality motor, be able to reach faster speeds, have steeper inclines, will be better built overall than a lower priced treadmill, and, a commercial grade treadmill will give you a wide variety of options and programmability. Most treadmills have console panels that allow easy viewing of distance, incline, speed, and heart rate. More expensive treadmills have pre-programmable programs. They allow you to set your desired heart rate and then will automatically adjust speed and incline until your desired heart rate is achieved.

New fitness guidelines suggest a combination of aerobic conditioning and muscle strengthening. Your own work out program needs to be based on your present fitness level and the level of fitness you wish to achieve. If you are over the age of 35 it is always advised to check with your doctor before starting any type of exercise program. If you have any questions or concerns you might want to talk with an exercise physiologist who can help you plan your exercise program.

The Acai Berry, Called the "Amazon's Viagra" Just Featured on Oprah

Deep in the Jungles of the Amazon lies more mystery and miracles than can possibly be discovered in one lifetime. But for the growing Baby Boomer’s, a new Amazon discovery could be the next “big thing”.

(PRWEB) December 20, 2004 -- What ancient tribes and people of the Amazon have known for centuries, the world is just discovering, that an ancient berry, called the Acai Berry, may cause a sexual sensation.

This mysterious berry, has been making headline news throughout the USA in the last year. Having been featured in the Wall Street Journal, NBC’s “Today Show”, and just last month on the “Oprah Show”, Dr. Nicholas Perricone, named the Acai Berry as one of the most nutritious and powerful anti-aging foods in the world.

Monarch Health Sciences, a leading health company from Salt Lake City, is launching MonaVie - The Acai Berry Juice on January 8, 2005. This new elixir has been created and formulated with the expert talent of Dr. Ralph Carson. Dr Carson, Chief Science Officer of Monarch Health Sciences, heads an all star team of the nation’s leading doctors, a prestigious medical team that is passionate about discovering the planet’s secret natural medicines.

Besides being known as the “Amazon’s Viagra”, the Acai Berry is also known to be effective in the following areas: Anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-oxidant, anti-mutagenic, and cardiovascular system.

So, how do you get your hands on a bottle of MonaVie Juice? Great question, MonaVie is being launched with a MLM distribution model. A model of business that allows the average person to become the story-teller of a product, and generate their own profits.

Why has such an acclaimed company, gone to this model of business? Just ask Calvenn Starre, MonaVie’s number one distributor, “MonaVie is best served as a person to person product, not just another sit-on-a-self natural Viagra youth elixir. This way, people can share their personal stories and create financial security during a very insecure time. Why should all the money go to media marketing, when the best advertising is always word of mouth?"

MonaVie is opening its doors to entrepreneurs seeking a home based business opportunity in USA, Canada, Australia, Singapore, and Japan in 2005. Surprising to most of us, this MLM opportunity is only $39 to start, and each bottle of MonaVie is only $39. Bulk discounts are available in quantities of 2 bottles or more.

$39 to enjoy a “juicier” life, sign me up!

How to Achieve Real Health Part 1

by Barbara Pfieffer

There is a way to get real health, health from the food you eat, what you buy or don't buy at the store, habits you establish. I've broken it down into several small steps. Those are usually easier to get used to. However, if you want to jump in full tilt, go ahead!

It seems to be a huge job. You may be overweight, or obese. You might be on prescription drugs, or afraid of getting a chronic health problem like diabetes. So we will just start at the beginning. Begin by evaluating where you are now. I think it's good to get a baseline. Numbers are a concrete way to show progress, in addition to how you are feeling. You can't know how far you've come, if you don't know where you started!

Write down the following information: weight, measurements, medicines taken (both prescription and non-prescription, like Rolaids or Tylenol), blood pressure if you know it. If not, go to your doctor and find that out. And while you're there, get a full range of blood tests, to find out your triglycerides, blood sugar, cholesterol, and other important readings. I would also make the effort to find a Pharmanex scanner rep in your area and get your antioxidant score.

Next, keep a food diary for a week. No one else has to see it, I promise! Write down everything that passes your lips for a week, no cheating. Use brand names. Don't put down 2 slices of bread, write 2 slices of honey whole wheat bread from Trader Joe's, for instance. If you want to add more information, like, time of day, mood, situation, any side effects, like gas or heartburn, that will just give you additional information to look at later.

Now, you need to decide what changes you are going to make. They can be small ones or large ones. A small one usually works better at least in the beginning. Try doing one or two of these for at least two weeks.

Examples of small changes:

  1. Reduce your number of caffeinated beverages in half. Replace them with filtered water.

  2. Check the labels of food you eat often, such as bread, packaged foods, or frozen foods. look for ingredients that can cause disease. If you find them, look for a substitution.

  3. Reduce the number of diet drinks with artificial sweetners that you drink.

  4. Get out in the sun for 15-20 minutes a day, more if you are dark-skinned. This means out in the sun, no sunscreen.

  5. Switch to whole grains, especially in bread and rice and pasta.

Ingredients to look out for:

  • Sodium nitrite

  • Aspartame

  • Hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils of any sort

  • Foods with monosodium glutamate or other forms or free glutamate acid-

    • MSG (monosodium glutamate)

    • Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein

    • Hydrolyzed Protein

    • Hydrolyzed Plant Protein

    • Plant Protein Extract

    • Sodium Caseinate

    • Calcium Caseinate

    • Yeast Extract

    • Textured Protein

    • Autolyzed Yeast

    • Hydrolyzed Oat Flour

Gastric Bypass Surgery - Is It Right For You?

by Beverley Brooke

When we hear all the success stories of the gastric bypass, it sounds so easy. One pricey operation and the pounds just fly off! Right? Not quite. Gastric bypass surgery is only advised to those who are morbidly obese – this is someone with a body mass index greater then 40 and men and women between 80-100 pounds their ideal body weight.

The gastric bypass is also sometimes recommended to patients suffering obesity along with other conditions such as heart disease or type 2 diabetes. If the surgeon is happy the health benefits outweigh the possible side effects of gastric bypass surgery then it maybe recommended.

If you're currently obese and suffering no other conditions, I would personally think about big lifestyle changes, both in diet and exercise. I know it's a tough, long haul but with the right support it's possible to lose over 1lb/week safely and effectively. That's over 60 pounds of weight loss in 6 months. You must considering the risks involved in the gastric bypass surgery, because even with the surgery you will still be required to follow a rigid diet that you certainly aren't going to like at first.

Try to be objective about all forms of weight loss and weight up your options. There are many success stories out there on the gastric bypass and its beneficial to many people but please always remain open to the basics of weight loss.

Açaí: Main Squeeze in Brazil

September 20, 2003

Açaí: Main Squeeze in Brazil
By Alex Bellos

What’s purple, gloopy and coming to a juice bar near you?
An amazing Amazonian potion!

Wheatgrass, pomegranate juice? That’s so last season. The latest fitness fad in the United States is a purple fruit that originates from the Amazon and that users claim is one of the most nutritious and versatile foods in the world.

Açaí — pronounced AH-SAH-YEE — has boomed in the past four years, going from zero to a $2 million business and attracting celebrity fans such as Gisele Bundchen, Andre Agassi and Sting. Described by the US Health Sciences Institute as “nature’s perfect food”, açaí is the fruit of an Amazonian palm tree with the nutritional content that makes other fruits blush with inadequacy.

Served in juice bars as a slush puppy, usually mixed with bananas and guarana extract, açaí has an unusual tropical taste — a little like blueberries mixed with chocolate. But it is its effects on health, not just taste buds, that has been creating the biggest buzz.

Açai’s biggest selling point is that it contains a remarkable concentration of anthocyanins, the antioxidants in red wine believed to lower the chances of heart disease, although swig per swig, açaí contains between ten and thirty times more. The purple fruit also contains the good-for-you fatty acids present in olive oil, high levels of vitamins A and C, fiber, iron and calcium. What doesn’t it have? Just the bad things — zero cholesterol and only 4 per cent fat.

You can’t miss açaí in Rio de Janeiro. All the juice bars that line the blocks near Ipanema and Copacabana do a roaring trade. In fact, açaí is more of a lifestyle option than a foodstuff. It is the magic potion that fuelled the hedonistic energy of Brazilian beach culture.

The way it looks is integral to its appeal: a dark violet, a deep, dense colour that seems weighed down by its prodigousness. Its thick gloopiness means you slurp it up with a spoon. Often served in a ceramic bowl — as if to emphasize its superiority over other juices — açaí has a certain culinary gravitas. It is a whole meal, not just a thirst-quenching snack.

Five years ago two friends from California went to Brazil on a surfing holiday and they sampled açaí for the first time. “The fruit is amazing. The taste, the texture and — more than anything — the way it makes you feel,” says Ryan Black. “We were hooked on it from day one.”

Research has shown that the antioxidants present in açaí are uniquely powerful — 50 times greater than mangoes, more than five times greater than in blueberries and almost twice as much as pomegranates.

Antioxidants can prevent blood clots, improve circulation and, some scientists believe, can work as an antiviral or help to prevent cancer. A research group at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro that specializes in the pharmaceutical analysis of Amazonian palm trees discovered that açaí may be useful in treating prostate problems and works as a remedy for several diseases.

The fruit’s priapic powers are already legendary. A friend of mine apparently unable to impregnate his wife was told by his doctor to drink açaí. He did, and nine months later their child was born.

Fifteen years ago açaí was a secret known only in the Amazon estuary area, where for generations it had been a staple of the local population. Açaí is served unsweetened, thickened with manioc powder, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In Belém, the colonial port at the mouth of the Amazon, about 200,000 liters are drunk every day — more than milk.

On the floodplains of the estuary, açaí palms regenerate with ease and the tree is thought to cover an area half the size of Switzerland. The fruit is the shape of a small berry and is all stone apart from a thin dark purple skin, which is pulped to form a juice known locally as açaí wine. Farming is un-merchandised and açaí pickers scamper up the palms to cut off branches with machetes.

Since açaí perishes within 24 hours, the fruit was originally limited to the Amazon. With the advent of freeze-packing and modern transport links, however, frozen açaí pulp started to appear in Rio’s specialty food shops.

Carlos Gracie, the great-grandson of Scottish immigrants from Dumfries, helped açaí to become a health fad in Rio, where he ran the country’s first jujitsu academy. He remembered the fruit from his childhood, incorporated it into his diet and encouraged his sportsmen to eat it, too. Carlos sired 21 children and many sons and grandsons went on to become jujitsu champions. In the 1970s the surfing community slowly became hooked on açaí, too. By the early 1990s it was widely available and is now as much part of Brazilian beach culture as football and dental floss bikinis.

The influence of the Gracie clan around the world has helped to give açaí credibility among the international sports set. Reigning jujitsu world heavyweight champion Roger Gracie swears by it. “It’s healthy because its natural, there are no chemicals in it,” he says. Roger prepares his açaí at home in Rio and mixes it with banana and muesli. If the health benefits aren’t enough to tempt you — açaí is also good for your conscience. Growth in demand for açaí has been changing the nature of agriculture in the miserably poor Amazon estuary.

Agronomists have successfully developed ways of cultivating açaí sustainably. Production has boomed and is bringing riches to poor areas.

In the past five years, according to Francisco de Jesus of the Amazon Bank, açaí production has almost tripled. Belém, the local city, has more than 60 pulping and freezing factories. “In my opinion, açaí is the most promising product we have here for development,” he says.

Ryan Black of says: “When we found out that sustainably-managed açaí was a perfect model of the Triple Bottom Line success (economic, environmental, social), that all the NGOs (non-governmental organisations) are trying to prove then we decided this message needed to be shared with the world.”

The Dangerous Secret to Massive Muscle Growth

by David McCormick

You've decided to join a gym, but you're not sure the best way to work out, and don't want to pay for a personal trainer who may not really know what he's talking about? Or maybe you're experienced, but aren't getting the results you want? Read on for the best tips for working out if you have a full gym facility, including the secret that no one will tell you about extreme muscle growth, because it is so dangerous.

Before and After
You should always warm up before lifting any weights. This means a light jog or other low-impact activity that will raise your heart rate and raise your core temperature by a few degrees. This should last at least 5 minutes, preferably 10 or more. After this, you should do joint rotations. This is not a stretch, it is preparing the joint for work by encouraging blood flow. Then, do the resistance training. At the end, stretch all of the joints you have worked that day. Studies have shown that stretching before weight training actually reduces the muscle's capacity, and does not prevent injury as was previously thought. Stretching after the work out will protect the joint and prevent cramping.

After working out you will also need an increased intake of protein because that is what muscles are made of.

Length of Time
The resistance training part of your workout should not last longer than one hour. After a warm up, your body is in an anabolic state, meaning that it is ready to "build up" or repair any damage you do to it by running hard or doing other hard work. However, after 45 minutes or so (again, this varies by individual), your body goes into a catabolic state, meaning that your body is ready to "break down" or eliminate anything that may threaten your survival. Entering a catabolic state is good for breaking down body fat and eliminating lactic acid from your muscles, but other tissues are equally damaged by being in a catabolic state. You should be mostly concerned about your kidneys and your muscle fibers that will be compromised if you continue to push yourself. Let me repeat that: if you work out for more than one hour, you will hurt your muscles, not help them.

The Isotonic Workout
Isotonics is a fancy word for what traditional bodybuilders do: contract the muscle in order to move a load. In other words, lifting and lowering weights.

As for the weight training itself, free weights are excellent because they make your body balance while lifting them. However, many people prefer nautilus machines for exactly the same reason: they feel safer not having to balance the weight. I will not give you weights, sets and reps to do, because there are a myriad of sources of routines written by all sorts of experts. I recommend you experiment with various programs, because although all muscles fundamentally work the same, everyone has different levels of hormones, different metabolism, and different levels of comfort. Pick up the latest fitness magazine of your choice for current work outs.

The key to remember when following a routine is this: If you are told to do 10 reps for 3 sets, this means that you should select a weight that allows you to do only 10 in a row, but not 11. You will feel tired at around 6, maybe shake a little at 8, and just pump out the 10th rep with no energy left to do even one more. If you can do 11, then you shouldn't stop just because your routine says 10. Do the 11th and 12th if you can, knowing that you should be using slightly more weight the next time. At the end of each set, rest for about 2 minutes (unless your workout specifies something else) and then do your second set.

The Eccentric Contraction
Most people who write workout routines emphasize that you lower the weight slower than you raised it. This is partly for safety. But there is a big secret! Let's back-up a little. Concentric motion is flexing the muscle to SHORTEN it under load, and Eccentric motion is flexing the muscle while LENGTHENING it under load. As your arm moves up in a bicep curl, that is concentric, as your arm moves down, eccentric. Here is the secret: Your muscle can create more power in eccentric motions than in concentric ones. So always lower weights very slowly, to keep the maximum tension while lowering weights!

But we can take that discovery one step further for ultimate results. Skip the concentric motion because it's holding you back! If you're only working out with weights that you can lift, you're not using the maximum power possible in your muscles.

Warning: the majority of muscle injuries happen during the eccentric phase of motion, and by trying this exercise, you are exposing yourself to risk of injury. So be careful.

You absolutely need a spotter for this, because you will need help to raise the weight. Load a bar with a bit more than you can lift. (If you can do 3 curls with 100 lbs, load the bar with 120 lbs.) With the help of your spotter, raise the bar to the top position of a bicep curl. Both of you will likely have to work a bit at this. Then, as slowly as you can, lower the weight to the normal starting position of the curl, with your bicep at full extension. This should take about 3-5 seconds. If your muscle goes slack or you drop the weight, you've put on too much weight. But if you've got the right amount, you should feel a burn like never before. After recovering for 2 minutes, you may want to do a second rep, but you probably won't need it.

And that's it. One rep per exercise. One controlled eccentric rep will stimulate your muscle to grow more than 3 sets of 10 reps because you're using the maximum overload possible.

Why? Muscle overload is key to adaptation. When you're using the absolute peak muscular output, it doesn't have to last long. And since the peak is only possible during eccentric contractions, only do eccentric contractions.

I feel obliged to repeat the warning: always use a spotter, and only use weights that you can manage. If you are working out for the first time, get used to good form by doing traditional isotonics, and learn how much you can usually lift to determine your baseline. Some exercises are more dangerous to do eccentrically, because the bar may crush you if you overload it: bench press, squats, military press, etc. For these, use a "Smith Machine" where the bar travels on vertical tracks and you can set safety stops to stop the bar from falling below a certain mark.

Hydration
Always remember while doing resistance training that water is your best friend. Drinking water will keep you from dehydrating, will keep your energy high, will encourage your body to cycle water and fluids throughout your body, and keep your joints healthy while exercising. The main cause of muscle cramps is insufficient hydration. For more information on the importance of water, read the Water article.

Caution
For the beginner: start easy. Start at your core and move outwards. Work big muscles before small muscles. Fat burning happens most in the largest muscles, so encouraging them to grow will give you the fastest fat-loss results. After your first workout, you will be sore. It would be best to avoid going to your full overload potential the first week, to allow your joints time to adjust to your new activity. However, soon you will see growth, and best of all, you'll see the fat start to melt.

The second-best resistance training (after eccentric contractions) does not even require weights, so you can do it at home without a gym membership. Read my article on the Weightless Workout.
